Explore the Watsonville wetlands, little-visited pockets of solitude and untamed beauty. Tour the Fitz Wetlands Educational Resource Center (the WERC), an important resource and activity center for students and teachers in the Pajaro Valley schools. Learn about the Watsonville Wetlands Watch, the organization which runs the WERC and which is dedicated to the preservation of Watsonville’s wetlands. Explore a native-plant restoration area and enjoy views of the wetlands and its active birdlife.

Wetlands Alive! Tours, Summer 2010

Bring your family and friends and join us on a fun-filled tour of the wetlands and our Educational Resource Center (the Fitz WERC; meet there). For driving directions and a map, click here. Tours are free, but please call the WERC at 728-1156, ext. 7, by Friday noon before the tour to reserve a place.

Binoculars are provided, and tours last approximately one to two hours. Visitors should wear walking shoes and dress for an outdoor walk of one-quarter to one mile on uneven ground (mild grassy slopes). Non-walkers will be given a tour of the Resource Center (the WERC).

All tours are free; reservations are required 48 hours in advance: call the WERC at 831-728-1156, ext. 7, or send an e-mail to genie@watsonvillewetlandswatch.org.
