Join a Committee

Would you like to help protect, restore, and encourage appreciation of the wetlands? Join us! Meet others with similar interests, learn about the wetlands, and share ideas and knowledge. And have fun! Most committees meet once a month, sometimes more often, and have a variety of interesting projects that make a difference in our community. Committees are at the heart of supporting and planning the activities of a largely volunteer organization like the Watsonville Wetlands Watch. If you are interested in helping us with any of the committees described below, please click on the email links. And thank you very much for your interest.

  • Education Committee: Read more about this committee or email Carol Whitehill.
  • Finance Committee:
The finance committee manages the financial resources of the Watsonville Wetlands Watch. This includes work with the grants committee and the outreach and fund raising committee. The finance committee keeps track of income, expenditures and fund balances, maintains a liquid reserve, develops and implements control systems and procedures, oversees accounting and auditing, and advises the board on financial matters including budgeting based on the organization's strategic plan and aspects of endowment raising and planned giving.
  • Outreach Committee: email Kathy Fieberling.
The Outreach Committee is charged with informing local communities of the mission and activities of the Watsonville Wetlands Watch. Our goal is to engage more people in our varied activities or wetlands learning opportunities. Committee members help to inform people about bird hikes, speakers, botany walks, Fitz WERC weekend tours, WWW community picnics, etc. They may also host or lead some of these activities.
  • Planning and Conservation Committee: email Jim Van Houten.
